About the Technology
Vibratory driving of pipes is used for the installation of sheet pile enclosures, tubular sheet pile walls, and temporary and permanent retaining structures. Tubular sheet piles are used where increased stiffness of the enclosure is required, where there are high lateral loads, or where the structure must be installed in difficult soil conditions.
Driving is performed using a vibratory hammer, which transmits directed vibrations to the pipe and reduces soil resistance. Before starting work, the design elevations, geology, pipe diameter and length, interlock connection layout, equipment access, and site constraints are checked. Control is maintained over pipe position, driving depth, and compliance with the design axis.
